The Story Behind the Serpent Collection

The Story Behind the Serpent Collection

When it came time to select the first collection for Velora Curated, I knew one thing immediately.

I didn't want it to be too loud.

But I didn't want it to be too safe either.

The first collection needed to feel approachable, versatile and easy to wear, while still having enough personality to make an impact.

As someone who has always appreciated beautiful accessories, I'm naturally influenced by timeless fashion and thoughtful design. I wanted pieces that felt elevated without feeling intimidating, and that could fit effortlessly into a variety of personal styles.

That's how the Serpent Collection came to life.

Featuring satin-finish twilly scarves and coordinating bag charms, the collection was designed to bring personality, versatility and thoughtful detail to the handbags you already own and love.

Finding the Right Balance

When curating the collection, I found myself returning to a simple question:

"Would I actually wear this?"

The answer needed to be yes.

Not just once.

Not just for a special occasion.

But regularly.

I wanted each design to feel easy to incorporate into an existing wardrobe, whether paired with denim, workwear, neutrals or something a little more dressed up.

Each colourway was selected with a different customer, occasion and mood in mind.

The Champagne design offers a timeless neutral option that complements almost everything. Elegant, versatile and easy to style, it's the kind of piece that works effortlessly across seasons and trends.

The Teal and Black design is probably the one that surprised me most. It can look right at home with a black suit in a corporate environment, but pair it with denim and suddenly it feels relaxed, modern and effortlessly stylish. I love pieces that can do both, and this one does it beautifully.

The Red and Pink design was a must for me. Historically, I had a lot more pink in my wardrobe, but when I rebuilt it, I focused heavily on neutrals and classic staples. This colourway reminded me just how much I love pink and red together. It adds personality, confidence and a little bit of fun while still feeling refined.

For those who prefer something softer, the Aqua and Purple design offers a lighter, more delicate palette. It's fresh, feminine and brings a subtle pop of colour without overwhelming an outfit.

Together, the four colourways create a collection with variety while still feeling cohesive.

Why Serpents?

The serpent motif felt like the perfect fit for Velora's first collection.

It's timeless, recognisable and full of character.

Bold enough to feel interesting, yet refined enough to remain wearable.

The design allows the twilly scarves and coordinating bag charms to become a feature when styled on a handbag while still complementing the pieces around them.

The Details Matter

One of the most important elements for me was the fabric itself.

I wanted a satin finish that felt smooth and elegant without being overly shiny or overly matte.

Something that looked refined, draped beautifully and felt as good as it looked.

The small details matter, and this was one detail I wasn't willing to compromise on.

Designed to Be Enjoyed

From the beginning, I wanted the Serpent Collection to feel accessible.

These are pieces designed to be worn, enjoyed, gifted and styled with confidence.

You don't need a completely new wardrobe.

You don't need to follow every trend.

Whether it's a twilly scarf wrapped around a favourite handbag or a bag charm that adds personality and movement, the right accessory can transform pieces you already own and love.

That's the philosophy behind Velora Curated, and it's exactly what inspired our very first collection.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
